Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Equine assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a non-traditional therapy and is an experiential form of learning and self discovery.  This therapy is offered at the PEACE Ranch location. Go here to learn more about PEACE Ranch.  We practice the EAGALA model of EAP.  EAGALA stands for the Eauine Assisted Growth and Learning Association.  Learn details about the model here.  It is taken from the EAGALA website:

Equine therapy has some advantages over traditional therapy, although it is not best for everyone.  In situations or relationships where talk is more difficult, and established negative patterns of communication get in the way of progress, equine therapy can be a great way to move things ahead.  It is also good with younger people who are opposed to talking in a room with a therapist. For those who struggle with emotional control and anxiety, being outside with animals in a peaceful setting can have a very calming effect, which allows for more learning, and gives greater flexibility.
